I like to purchase eggs from grain fed chickens, preferably cage-free. I've noticed lately that the "cage-free" eggs are usually brown. The other eggs are white.
You may not be aware of this, but brown eggs come from brown chickens, white eggs from white ones. Color has nothing to do with whether they are "organic" or not.
But I'm sure some marketing person, somewhere down the line, did some sort of study and came to the conclusion that housewives believe organic eggs are brown.
So I'm thinking, are the white chickens pissed? Are those poor white birds sitting in their little cages, mass producing all their white eggs, while those brown bitches get to scratch away at the ground dropping an egg whenever they please?
Why's it gotta be about color?
I imagine the white chickens rebelling, planning for a massive break-out - thanks to brown chicken sympathizers - pelting farmers with white eggs and standing along the roadside with signs that read "Equal Rights for Equal Eggs" and "ALL Chickens Should Be Free."
And I'd honk my horn in support.
I hope someday my egg carton contains a dozen brown AND white cage-free, grain-fed eggs.
But maybe that's just me.
